Red-breasted nuthatch
Red-breasted nuthatch
Each visual artist involved with the project was provided with a 10x10” cradled birch panel, which they used as the base for their unique, original artwork featuring a local wild bird of their choosing. These artworks were returned to ACWB and exhibited alongside poems written by local literary artists. All the artwork created through this program was sold as a fundraiser for Arts Council Wood Buffalo, supporting the development of Arts INC, a campus for creativity.
My bird choice was the Red-breasted nuthatch, which I created with small coloured strips of paper, ripped from a birds eye view of the world picture book. The background consists of water colour paint, acrylic paint pens, leaf patterned tissue paper, with the final touches of synthetic leaves, a fabric flower and a real twig to create some fun dimension.
